Together, We Can Make A Difference

Walk-to-Win Wednesdays

Did you know that the vast majority of Longfellow students live within a mile of school? Instead of driving in and contributing to the traffic problems we have on Mission Street why not take the initiative to walk to school with your child?

Started by Jacquie Chavez, former PTA president, Walk-to-Win Wednesdays is a walking school bus that starts at parking lot of McDonald's at 7:45am.  Walk-to-Win benefits the environment, the students, and creates community.

Friday Football Night

Thank you Jacquie Chavez for organizing a wonderful Football night that drew over a 100 participants.

Also, thank you to all the volunteers and community members who donated goodies and items for the auction.  Here are some of the folks who donated:

  • Senator Leland Yee (autographed football auction item) we got $80 for it!!!!!!
  • Torri Willis from SF 49er's Kids Club (donated many 49er gift items and raffle items) $50
  • Robert and Joseph from the F.B.I. for donating the "goodie bags" for all the kids (each one came with a finger print kit and DNA kit along with an activity book.
  • Jump Magazine for donating a copy of Jump Magazine for every child
  • Balboa High School's Football Team and Coach Carvajal came out to teach, coach, and play with our kids!
It was a huge success largely because of your participation and donations.  Every child walked away with a token of appreciation, many won cool prizes, and we made money for our PTA and after school program PEP!
